This position is an intermediate level position in the Investment Office and will provide exposure to all asset classes and strategies in the portfolio. Duties include preparing performance and analytic reports, maintaining and enhancing risk, liquidity, and exposure models, working closely with Dartmouths custodian bank and other software providers, and serving as a resource to the entire team. The position requires advanced knowledge of quantitative methods of investment performance analysis. Position is best suited to a self-starter who is intellectually curious and comfortable working on a small, collaborative team. Key Accountabilities Quantitative and Qualitative Measurement and Assessment · Prepares and reviews monthly portfolio reporting across all investment pools including investment performance, asset allocation, exposures, attribution, liquidity, and investment and cash flow pro-forma analyses. · Evaluates reporting results for reasonableness to ensure accuracy of the data. · Oversees internal models, databases and analytical tools used to monitor portfolio performance, exposures, cash flows and liquidity using data from Dartmouth’s custodian bank, investment managers, on-line databases and other reference sources. · Communicates directly with all team members in two office locations to assess reporting and investigate questions. · Works with the Director of Investment Operations and operations team members to ensure record keeping, reporting and analysis is reflected accurately in the respective repositories. · Provides recommendations for new processes, analysis and approaches that will enhance the overall effectiveness and accuracy of investment reporting and analysis including but not limited to the following: o Weekly and monthly reconciliations o Automated feeds or integration of systems where possible o Streamlining of workflow o Quality reviews · Coordinates the dissemination and collection of surveys and compiles responses from peer institutions. · May work on other portfolio level projects/analysis over time. · Serves as a mentor to more junior analysts who join the staff over time. · Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive information and material. · Performs other duties as assigned. Position Requirements Skills & Knowledge · Advanced analytical skills with investment performance standards · Expertise in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. · Knowledge of general investment principles and characteristics of various asset classes, including private equity and hedge funds. · Ability to multi-task and set priorities and meet deadlines. · Creative ability to pursue improvement in the analytical tools currently in use. · Ability to independently gather relevant information and data. · Excellent communication skills. · Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population. · Ability to maintain confidentiality.
