GABF is wrapping up, and I just cooked/brewed my first beer. To celebrate, I opened THIS Telegraph brewing company, CALIFORNIA ALE. ironically, this won gold at 2011 GABF. Lets get inspired!!! Pour- Amber Brown with moderate fizz, but eventually dissipated. Aromas- ?. Getting a lot of minerally river rocks. Is my glass dirty ? I changed the glass, but still copper-mineral weirdness. Flavor- medium bodied, and creamy mouthfeel. Yeasty bite, molasses, and again with that mineral/metallic character. Once the palate gets used to it, I began getting some faint vanilla butter tones, but maybe this batch was either stored improperly, or just old. Well, it is good, just not GABF excellent, but maybe the brewers are not at fault here. ★★☆
