OK…for those who have no idea who I am, I was the nerdy kid who worked all three years in the bookstore with Mr. Hawkins. A quick synopsis of my life - I spent a year+ after high school working at ‘The Store’, going to Utah Technical College and dating a girl from the class of ’79. I finally decided in ’79 to go on a mission for the LDS church. I labored in Hartford, Connecticut for 2 years. The mission was a great experience for me – I finally grew up in many different ways, and the best part - my girlfriend dumped me! After the mission, got a job working at Pitney Bowes in Salt Lake, while I continued my education at Utah Tech. (my dad was an instructor there, so schooling was free for me so don’t judge me for choosing UTC ;)). Eventually decided that I needed to leave school (run away from a girl I was dating), and move to northern California. I worked in the Bay Area for a couple of years driving delivery trucks, then back to Salt Lake to work for Pitney Bowes again (this time full-time). At that time, I spent many weekends in Provo going to dances at Bridal Veil Falls with a group of my friend’s friends. I was 27, single, with Harold for a name (enough said). So my friend’s friend (the girl who set us all up on our Dutch dates), would end up being my Dutch date on most occasions. Roxanna is her name. In ’86, I introduced Roxanne to my mom’s LDS Bishop (who happened to be Mr. Hawkins from Cottonwood). In that conversation, Ralph ended up asking Roxanne to marry me (at least that is what my wife tells everyone). My wife and I dated one time (officially); before we got engaged (all the other dates were Dutch so they don’t count). Roxanne is the love of my life. Roxanne and I lived in Idaho (for just one winter and that was enough for me), then back to the Bay Area for a year or so. I eventually went back to school – BYU this time. But that didn’t last very long. BYU didn’t accept the 3 years of credits from UTC, so I was starting out as a freshman again. My wife got a job at WordPerfect. A year later I started working there as well. Since that time, I’ve taken courses that eventually get me to be a Software Engineer. Ive worked as a Software Engineer since 1988. Ive worked at Novell, Corel, and a bunch of small companies youve never heard of, and even a stint of 5 years working for myself. Currently I work at Ancestry. We built a home in Lindon, Utah 22 years ago. My wife and I have 4 kids (2 boys and 2 girls). My oldest boy, Andy, is 24. He graduated from Pleasant Grove High, and is currently attending UVU (he served an LDS mission to Los Angeles). He is engaged to be married in March! Until then he is still in the basement. My second child, Elizabeth, is 21. She graduated from PGHS as well, and also attended UVU, but is currently taking a year off as she sorts out her dating situation with her boyfriend from the UK (hoping for an engagement here as well). My third child, Matthew, is 19. He also graduated from PGHS, and has worked for the past year getting ready for an LDS mission. He leaves for Peru the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. My youngest, Tabitha, is attending Timpanogos High. She has her dad wrapped around her finger. Love my kids, but ready to not have all four of them at home. I spent all of my free time between my several hobbies (Scouting and Haunted Houses). Roxanne and I, run a charity Haunted Train ride in Lindon, that has become the largest of it’s kind in the country. Ive become somewhat of an expert on haunted houses, and teach others how to build and run them (some of which I learned at Cottonwood working on the stage crew). My health has been good pretty good over the years (other than the Celiac decease, and Rheumatoid Arthritis). I feel so far behind so many of you, seeing all the grand kids photos and such. Maybe next year, that will change? Thanks for taking a minute to catch up on me and my family. Harold Weir
