GAP Fact #11: As you approach Confluence coming from Ohiopyle, you leave the Western Maryland ROW and travel on the ROW of the former Confluence & Oakland Railroad (a branch of the B&O) for about half a mile before the old Route 281 bridge. Most of the former ROW of the Confluence & Oakland Railroad is now under Youghiogheny River Lake. The Western Maryland bridge you pass under here is the only one not used for the trail. This fact is from page 147 of the Great Allegheny Passage Companion by Bill Metzger.
