LIMITRD TO 30 Invasive plants can interfere with your plans for your garden. This workshop explains and discusses invasive plants and ways to control them[1 Hr.] THE PLIGHT OF THE HONEYBEE We’ll explore the various stressors that are affecting honeybee populations across the United States. Varroa mite and diseases have been implicated as major factors in honeybee health but recent findings are starting to show the impact that pesticides may be having on honeybees and other pollinators. [1 Hr.] JANUARY 31, 2015 IF YOU PLANT IT, THEY WILL COME! This workshop will focus on the threats facing bees, butterflies and other pollinators and the things homeowners can do to help sustain them. It will help home gardeners to understand what pollinators need, present examples of recommended shrubs, trees, and flowering plants, and provide step-by-step instructions for making modifications to yards and gardens. In addition, workshop participants will have an opportunity to place orders for pollinator-friendly plants. In this workshop you can learn about common hazards and how to avoid them and provide a safe place for children and pets to enjoy nature. [1 Hr.] GARDEN MYTHS EXPOSED Misinformation about lawns and gardens is often accepted as fact, with unwelcome consequences. This workshop will debunk common misconceptions in the garden.
