GARISSA Governor Nathif Jama today came out strongly to defend his government over claims of truancy by his officials. Jama said he will not take lightly branding of his administration as a briefcase system where when he goes out of the county, all government operations are paralyzed. He asked members of the public to report to him directly if they encounter any office which is not in operation at the official working hours. “People are talking of briefcase government which is not true. If there is any official abandoning duty without any genuine reasons let me know,” said the governor while launching the distribution of wheelchairs, sanitary pads and sewing machines to the deserving members of the public. Jama said his administration will give necessary support to people living with disability in the county, announcing 2015 as the year of disability for his government. The government immediately announced Ahmed Siyat Mohamed , a person of dwarfism to be part of his administration. He said the county government will ensure that that all schools in the county comply with a system that will enable people with disability to coexist. “We are committed to make sure people with disability are not undermined or neglected as has been the tradition by previous government, we will necessary support because they are members of our society,” he said. Mr Jama urged parents in the county not to hide children with disability but take them to school while announcing that the county government will soon initiate the building of a special school with children with disability. The governor also said the county Government has not done much for people living with disability while terming the as year of ‘people with disability’. The county government at the same time donated consignment of sewing machines to women groups, sanitary pads to girl’s schools which the governor said it will help them the girls stay in schools. ……….Ends……../
