GAUR PREM IS EVEN HIGHER THAN KRISHNA PREM! Question: i have one question: We know Lord Gauranga and Lord Krishna are the One Same Supreme Personality of Godhead, yet different (achintya-bheda-bheda). So what about Their Prema? Does Gaura-prema differ from Krishna-prema? If yes, difference of what kind is there? Answer by Bhaktiratna Sadhu: Though both Lord Gauranga and Lord Krishna and the same non-dual Truth, Gauranga Prema is higher and more confidential than Krishna Prema. It is Unnatojjvala Krishna Prema imbued with the Mahabhava of Shrimati Radhika which Lord Krishna does not freely distribute to everyone even in His pastimes in Vraja. This is confirmed by Shrila Prabodhananda Sarasvati Thakura in Shri Chaitanya Chandramrita in the verses below: Verse 119: Even higher treasure of love than Lord Krishnas pastimes... bhrityah snigdha atha sumadhura-projjvalodara-bhajas tat-padabja-dvitaya-savidhe sarva evavatirnah prapuh purvadhikatara-mahaprema-piyusha-lakshmim sva-premanam vitarati jagaty adbhutam hema-gaure (119) Explanatory Translation by BRS Swami Gaurangapada: Verse 119: "The supremely golden Lord Hema Gauranga is personally distributing the strikingly astonishing and exquisitely wonderful treasure of His own pure love through the chanting of His own Holy Names and Pastimes. Thus all His most affectionate and intimate servitors possessing the supremely sweet and greatly splendid love for Him appeared again in Kali Yuga with the desire to always reside near His two charming lotus feet. And surprisingly all of them attained an even higher treasure of Mahaprema i.e. pure nectarean mellows of love for the Lord by chanting Lord Gaurangas glorious Name and Pastimes in Lord Gaurangas pastimes, than what they had attained while participating directly in Lord Krishnas pastimes or in the pastimes of the other incarnations of Lord Gauranga-Krishna." Verse 31: Even the unalloyed devotees of Lord Krishna are inglorious if... apy aganya-maha-punyam ananya-sharanam hareh anupasita-chaitanyam adhanyam manyate matih (31) Explanatory Translation by BRS Swami Gaurangapada: Verse 31: "Even those most exalted personalities who have taken pure unalloyed shelter of Lord Krishna due to their limitless and multitudinous spiritual pious credits remain inglorious in my estimation if they do not wholeheartedly and with full certitude worship Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu and His Holy Name." Verse 40: Rare even for Lord Krishnas intimate Associates... alaukikya premonmada-rasa-vilasa-prathanaya na yah shri-govindanucara-saciveshv eshu kritishu mahashcarya premotsavam api hathad datari na yan matir gaure sakshat para iha sa mudho nara-pashuh (40) Explanatory Translation by BRS Swami Gaurangapada: Verse 40: "The Supreme Lord Gauranga is the greatest philanthropist in this world who is constantly performing His transcendental pastime of forcibly distributing to one and all the supremely astonishing festival of His Holy Name, which is ever-expanding, strikingly wonderful and overwhelming, and which is rarely attained by even the principle and intimate associates of Lord Govinda-Krishna. Thus the person who does not establish his or her consciousness in the supremely magnanimous Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu through the chanting of His Holy Name is certainly most foolish and destitute and an animal in the guise of a human being."
