GBM Case Fails to Take Off The case in which Kasama Member of Parliament Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba is charged with assault failed to take of this morning as the he is unwell. When the matter came up for commencement of trial before magistrate Boniface Mwiinga in Court Room 1 at the Lusaka Magistrate Complex the State was ready to proceed. But Mwamba’s defence team through Mutakela Lisimba informed the court that their client was not feeling too well as he had developed some discomfort yesterday a situation that continued this morning. Lisimba told the court that they would not want to subject their client to court when he was unwell. ‘We have indicated to the State and have a medical certificate with us. So under these circumstances we wouldn’t like to proceed. We ask for your indulgence,’ he begged the court. The State had objection and magistrate Mwiinga adjourned the matter to July 24, 2014 for mention and August 18 and 19, 2014 for commencement of trial. The Kasama lawmaker will however have the case mentioned in his absence on July 24, 2014 as he will be out on parliamentary business in his constituency. zambiareports/2014/06/26/gbm-case-fails-take/
