GEEK HEAVEN. Today, Jason and I hung out at The Hollywood Show, where we posed with the lovely and gracious Nichelle Nichols, Lt. Uhura from Star Trek. YES WE DID. Its a TV reunion expo and costs a fortune for signatures or photos, so this is our only official photo. HOWEVER, we also snapped hurried photos of the great Dick Van Dyke (with whom I had an actual 43-second conversation about the Greg Morris switched baby episode of The Dick Van Dyke Show--Our biggest laugh ever, he told me) and John Amos (who looks TERRIFIC--though not in my photo--He was like a second father on TV, I told Jason). Good Times was one of the shows having a reunion, so Jason got pulled aside by Ralph Carter (Michael), who quizzed him about his lifes plans and told him the story of his nephew, who just graduated from Harvard Medical School. (So sweet!) I also met Ken Foree from DAWN OF THE DEAD (!!!!!!!) and The Dick Van Dyke Shows Millie (Ann Morgan Guilbert) while she was on a smoking break, so I told her how she stole the reunion show with her great comic timing. BerNadette Stanis from Good Times (Thelma) was also there, very sweet, and a KNOCKOUT. Everyone has aged, and many oh-so-gracefully. People, Dick Van Dyke is 89 YEARS OLD! And let me say again that John Amos looks amazing. So many of our favorite actors become invisible as they age, but I embrace every year they wear and look to them as role models. When I told Ms. Nichols that signing autographs and posing all day looked exhausting, she said, Its just work. Yep, its just work. And thanks for all of the work you do! And thanks to Victoria Rowell, who was there for the Diagnosis Murder reunion and gave me the heads up.
