GEJ IN PURSUANCE OF AN AGENDA WANTS TO RELEGATE THE ITSEKIRI TO THE BACKGROUND The itsekiri nation has been in existence for About five hundred years.we were solidly on ground before the british ever thought of coming to the place called Africa and Nigeria today. Even before the existence of the place called nigeria ,the itsekiri has exchanged diplomatic relations with portuguese and other european countries.the warri kingdom was one of the major kingdoms that formed the country called nigeria today . Even at independence itsekiri played an active and key role in shaping the country in the person of Late Chief Okotie-Eboh(first finance minister),late Chief Alfred Rewane(assassinated),MR. Allison Ayida(the super perm secretary),Mr. Franklin Atake ,Pilot bob Hayes ,Mr. Sam Amuka,Billy Dudleys ,Oritsejolomi Thomas ,Alele Williams ,The Sagays ,The Egbes ,The Boyos ,The KB Omatseyes and others too numerous to mention.it is also important to note that itsekiri contributes more than 25percent of crude oil sustaining the economy of the country . So,Nigerias centenary celebration without honouring any itsekiris is an attempt by the president goodluck jonathan to relegate the itsekiri to the background in pursuance to their selfish agenda. Again,the deliberate attempt not to nominate any itsekiris either amongst the elder statemen,professionals,royal highness,south-south ,Delta and others as delegates in the National Conference is in continuation of his hatred to the itsekiris and pursuance OF an agenda to re-write history. The itsekiri must at this junction wake up as never before to demand their place in the Nigeria federation. The impact and sacrifice of our forefathers ,our mentors ,our heroes cannot be allowed to die down for political and selfish reasons.No reason on earth can justify man inhumanity to man. If a dictator,a killer, a looter of our collective wealth and a person who undermined democracy is given a centenary award why cant a person who promoted and died for a better nigeria not given a centenary award ? A food for thought .
