GENEALOGY PHOTO A DAY - I was fortunate enough to take a behind-the-scenes tour of State Records of South Australia today. So heres a few pics from what I was allowed to photograph and put online. They have an ENORMOUS collection of records, so if you have any connection to South Australia, be sure to check them out, or if youre not local, use their website to check the catalogue and get in touch with them. They hold records that the SA government departments produce: ie. School records, hospital records, asylum records, hotel plans, childrens homes, roads, parliamentary papers, prison records, miliitary records ... its phenomenal what they hold!! As so much of it isnt catalogued yet. And ... they have new records arriving every day, which would add up to approx. 3000 linear metres per year ... all of which have to have a place to be stored!
