GET CAUGHT RED HANDED WITH A SIX, AND WIN A MILLION Cricket fans attending the 2014/2015 edition of the RAM SLAM T20 Challenge will have a million more reasons to be at this season’s RAM SLAM action around the country. RAM Hand to Hand Couriers announced an exciting new reason for fans to attend matches this season. Lucky fans who successfully take a single-handed catch at a televised RAM SLAM match will be eligible to win a share of one million Rand. To qualify for the Prize, the following criteria must apply to a winning catch: • It must be a clean, one-handed catch of a ‘six’ hit during a televised RAM SLAM Cricket match (juggling the ball with one or two hands will not be accepted as a clean catch); • The one-handed catch must be clearly visible on the stadium replay screen and broadcast TV camera as it will be subjected to audit. A clean catch is one where the ball does not make contact with anything after leaving the bat and is caught one handed by a fan beyond the field of play. Either hand can be used to take a clean catch. Now into its third season of the partnership with Cricket South Africa, the RAM SLAM T20 Challenge continues to show exciting growth as interest both locally and abroad is intensifying. “We are thrilled to launch the Win A Million competition this year. With last season’s phenomenal increase in crowd attendances, we are sure that this competition will further encourage fans to fill out stadiums once again,” said Graham Lazarus, Managing Director at RAM Hand to Hand Couriers. Last season’s competition saw crowd attendance increase by 43% with more than 212 000 fans passing through the turnstiles as compared to the season before. TV Audience ratings also saw a significant rise with a 92% increase from the season before amounting to over 1,7 million unique viewers during the 21 matches. “RAM Hand to Hand Couriers have long been associated with innovative developments in our T20 cricket, both on the field of play and in their engagement with fans,” commented Cricket South Africa (CSA) Chief Executive, Haroon Lorgat, “and RAM must be congratulated on this latest innovation. “One of the ideas we launched last season was the concept of a triple header with all six Franchises playing at one venue on the same day. This was such a success that we have expanded it to three triple headers this coming summer, giving fans the chance to see all their favourite players in one venue. “The fixtures have been designed to allow our Proteas the chance to play in the latter stages of the competition which would include the eliminator between second and third placed teams and the Grand Final.” Last season also saw the competition televised globally for the first time, and this season’s tournament will once again be screened throughout Africa, Asia and the UK. “It has been an incredibly exciting and invigorating new challenge for me to be involved as the Tournament Director for the RAM SLAM T20 competition,” commented former Proteas captain, Graeme Smith. “From the inter-action I have had with local players and international stars wishing to play in South Africa, it is clear to me that the RAM SLAM is a highly respected T20 brand and I can see it growing in the seasons ahead.” The RAM SLAM kicks off on Sunday 02 November 2014 with a Triple Header at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium.
