GHANA @ 57: NATIONALISM & PATRIOTISM LESSONS Once upon ANYTIME, there is always a PUSHCART called MY COUNTRY. It has only 3 categories of CITIZENS who are supposed to carry MY COUNTRY to a very far DESTINATION called OUR FUTURE. These CITIZENS are MR. GOOD ACTIVE CITIZENS, MR. BAD CITIZENS, & MR. PASSIVE CITIZENS. As they journeyed along, they came to a very STEEP HILL. Besides each side are the valleys of DISASTER. All of a sudden, the MR. GOOD ACTIVE CITIZENS came out of MY COUNTRY & began to PULL MY COUNTRY up the HILLS. However, the MR. BAD CITIZENS were also out behind, & instead of PUSHING MY COUNTRY forward, they were rather PULLING BACK the efforts of the MR. GOOD ACTIVE CITIZENS. Nonetheless, these activities going on did not ESCAPE the knowledge of MR. PASSIVE CITIZENS who were just sitting in MY COUNTRY unconcerned. Ladies & Gentlemen, what do you think would become of MY COUNTRY? If Ghana were to be a human being, I believe she is almost approaching the requirement for RETIREMENT. Exactly a week ago, I was speaking in Ho, the capital of the Volta Region under the theme: PATRIOTISM & NATIONALISM, & the topic, RE-AWAKENING OUR SENSE OF PATRIOTISM. Patriotism & Nationalism was central in our theme for the 57th Independence Anniversary Celebration. Lets unite, demonstrating our nationalism and patriotism through VOLUNTEERISM, & patronizing MADE IN GHANA GOODS. Lets be BOLD to ensure CORRUPTION becomes a TABOO, CREATIVITY & INNOVATION becomes our core reason for education, and lets us be PROACTIVE in all our communities to report steaming conflicts & be ready to EXPECT & ACCEPT CRITICISMS of all kinds..... thats TOLERANCE for opposing views. God bless our nation Ghana, and make us GREAT & STRONG. (DTT)
