GIANT PARTNERS WITH CHALLENGE AUSTRALIA! Sydney, Australia (October 1, 2013) – Challenge Australia and Giant Bicycles have today announced a partnership that will see Giant become the Official Bike of Challenge Australia for season 2013/14. The partnership will see Giant involved in all three Australian Challenge races being Challenge Forster (November 23, 2013), Challenge Melbourne (February 2, 2014) and Challenge Batemans Bay (March 16, 2014). The sponsorship will see the bike leg at each Challenge Australia event known as the ‘Giant Bike Leg’ in which some of the sport’s stronger cyclists will also compete for the ‘Giant Fastest Bike Split’ prize. All Challenge participants will also have the opportunity to win a brand-new Giant bike at each of the Challenge Australia events. Challenge Australia CEO, Marcus Altmann explained that the Giant partnership is a natural fit for the Challenge Family brand in Australia. “As an organisation we are committed to an ‘athlete-first’ approach and this is reflected through the partnerships that we enter. With Giant, we have a partner who understands the needs of the long-distance triathlete, the sacrifices they make to get to the start line and is truly embedded into the triathlon lifestyle’, said Altmann. “Giant is an active contributor to a heightened athlete and spectator experience at their sponsored races and this is something we greatly value in a partner. Giants’ race-day activations are some of the best in the industry and complements our own motivations to deliver a genuine major event experience for athletes and spectators alike.’ “This is the first of a number of exciting partnership announcements to come for Challenge Australia and we are thrilled to be making this first announcement with Giant”. Giant’s Martin Clucas explained that this partnership has a very natural alignment for Giant. “Giant is extremely excited to partner with Challenge Australia, we have long term been actively involved in the Australian triathlon scene supporting athletes, clubs and events, so the ‘athlete-first’ approach that Challenge takes to running its events is a perfect fit for us” said Clucas. The first Giant-sponsored Challenge Family race for season 2013/14 will see the return of international long-course triathlon to the idyllic twin-towns of Forster-Tuncurry, the traditional home of long-course triathlon in Australia. The event carries a professional prize purse of €25,000. Limited individual age group and teams entries for the inaugural Challenge Forster event are still available at challengeforster.au.
