GIVING AND OVERFLOWING HEALTH BY PASTOR PHILLIP OYETUNJI INTRODUCTION In the last study, we examine how we can enjoy overflow of health in any area of life ; be it spiritual, bodily, relationship or financial . We said that, this boils down to whether self is in control or God is in control. We were able to look at some pointers as to whether God is in control or not. One of these pointers is giving gratitude and thanksgiving to God for all things. Todays study looks at the power of giving as it affects our financial health. May The Lord bless us as we study in Jesus name! CENTRAL BIBLE TEXT: ST. LUKE 12:16-21 A. AREAS OF GIVING In the story we read in our central bible passage, we can see that God was annoyed with a rich man who has abundance in store but refused to give either to God or man. His life was cut short, he could not enjoy that overflow of health that guarantees long life because of his attitude towards giving. This would not be our lot in Jesus name! Lets now look at some areas we are expected to give. 1. Our lives. Mk. 8:34-38, Rom. 6:23; 10:8-13; Phil. 1:21, Ps. 103:1-2, 1 Cor. 10:31 2. Our bodies. Rom.12:1-2;5:23, 1 Cor. 6:13, 18-20 3. Finance. Lk. 6:38; 2 Cor. 9:1-8; God expects both the rich and poor to give and to give proportionately to what they have. This includes tithes, offering, first fruits, seed faith, giving to the need, poor or disadvantaged. Lk. 21:1-4; Phil. 4:15-19; Mt. 25:31-40; Gen. 14:20; Lev. 27:30; Mal. 10:8-10; Mt. 23:23; Prov. 3:5-10 4. Time. Eph. 5:14-17 5. Talent. Mt. 25:14-30; Rom. 12:6-13 6. Treasures. Mt. 2:1-12 7. Will.
