GLOBAL EMPOWERMENT MISSIONS SUMMIT (GEMS) 2013 7th African Annual Summit on Missions, Peak Performance and Trans- generational Impact. INTRODUCING GEMS 2013 The first edition of GEMS was launched in 2007. GEMS have hosted over 1000 young people assembled from various location, vocation and denomination for instructional, inspirational and transformative meetings. The outcome of these historic gatherings has profoundly affected family life, corporate pursuits, Christian advancements and Global reclamation. The rising generation constitutes more than half the total population of Nigeria, and it is a common trend to find young minds taking initiatives often geared at wealth creation, job creation, music and entertainment but very few Kingdom/missions driven initiatives. The number of young people actively participating in Church life and witness is on the decline. We have seen in recent times an exodus of young Christians (talented in music and useful in choir) from church to night clubs and social shows at variance with our Christian profession. We have very few young Christian professionals signing up to be missionaries. Through our ministry involvement and global interaction, we clearly see the need to mobilize and equip the rising generation for missions and economic power and global impact. We have envisioned ‘GEMS – Global Empowerment Missions Summit’ as a viable platform to meet this need. The summit seeks to engage over 500 youths in four day non-denominational platform to awaken their passion and zeal for missions, quicken in them ownership of the vision for the unreached, sharpen their entrepreneurial skills and challenge them to impact their local assembly, circle of influence and society at large.
