GLOBAL IMPACT OF SHEIKH IBRAHIM INYASS {R.T.A} he waz not only an erudite & versatile scholar but also a prolific writer hu has written ova 70 books on various sbjcts includng fiqh {muslim canon law} arabic language & grammar, islamic ethics, tasauwuf {islamic mysticism} seerat lyf of d noble Prpht S.A.W! tafsir {Quranic exegesis} among many odar islamic disciplines whch he treated wit admirable competence & excellence. he waz a poet of d highst order composng sum eight anthologies. due to his immense knowledge & undrstndng of islam, he waz awarded d title of shaykhul islam by d eminent head of d Al-Azhar University Cairo Egypt Muhammad Mahmud shaltut. dis title is only givn to islamic scholars hu hav attained a level of competence & mastery in at least 25 disciplines in islam. he advocated 4 mass education 4 both males & females.in reference to dis, d sheikh said in a speech dat women shuld compete wit men in knowledge it is becoz of dis dat women of d path are found to b wel versed in quran & hadith. Suffice to say dat all his female children hav memorized d entire Quran & are islamic scholars in dere own rights hu engage in continuous education of women & children throughout sub- sahara Africa. he also establishd A zawiyya {islamic study centre} in his hometown of kaolack which has now developd into an institute dat is affiliated with Al-Azhar University in Cairo through wich thousands of students all ova d world attend to complete dare studies. dis scholarly act was imitated by his disciple hu established many of dis zawiyyas all ova Africa, a consequent of wich literacy has been improved. At a time wen d Muslim world were still rejecting d recitation of Quran ova d radio & odar electronic gadgets such as loudspeakers, he issued a fatwa dat not only is it allowed but compulsory 4 Muslims to embrace dis inventions becoz dey promote piety & helps to spread islam. he was among d first West African islamic scholars to write a book explaining d rules of pilgrimage to Makkah 4 dox traveling by plane. Not only did the Sheikh emphasize on islamic knowledge, he also encouraged western education as is evident in d speech he gave 4 d maulud at kaolaha in 1386 AH were he addressed d muslim youth saying “Go ahead and be vanguard in all things 4 d future of nations is based on its youth and make every efforts to seek and do your best to acquire knowledge not only islamic knowledge & mathematics but also be part of & co-operate wit dox whose zea is to discover d unknown & unseen thngs of dis world {by that he meant sciences}.
