GLOBAL NETWORK OF OGUN WEST PROFESSIONALS (Leadership for Quality Development) Press Release The leadership of Global Network of Ogun West Professionals heartily commend the leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for choosing their gubernatorial candidates from Ogun West. By this action, both parties have demonstrated their desire to ensure equity and fairness in the political landscape of the state. We particularly commend the national leadership of PDP for not bowing to pressures to trade away the mandate of Ogun West as noticed in the recent political schemings that trailed the emergence of Alhaji Gboyega Nasir Isiaka while we also commend the leadership of SDP on the choice of Senator Akin Odunsi as its flag bearer in the forthcoming elections. We at the Global Network of Ogun West Professionals congratulate and identify with the political ambition of these two frontline politicians from Ogun West (as indeed with all sons and daughters of Ogun West seeking one elective post or the other) and we wish them luck in the elections. No doubt these gentlemen have the qualifications, the experience and the pedigree to lead the State on its next level of proportionate development. We also charge all genuine development loving sons and daughters of Ogun West to support these gentlemen with their votes in the elections bearing in mind that since the creation of Ogun state in February 1976, Ogun West is yet to produce an Executive Governor of Ogun state. This is particularly unfair given the tremendous role the region has played (and still playing) in the development of the state. It is a fact that Ogun West has always been in the frontline of both the State and National Developments but in spite of this, the current infrastructural and economic development of Ogun West is nothing compared with the other two Senatorial Districts who have produced governors on more than two occasions each. We wish to advise all sons and daughters of Ogun West to eschew violence no matter the inducement from whatever quarters. Let us all remember that we are brothers first before being politicians and others take advantage of our seeming disunity to trample upon our rights.
