GMFBF & F. Its Saturday, the 30th day of August with only 1 day remaining in the month. Time does fly, indeed. If today is your birthday or anniversary, I send you a HAPPY-HAPPY. My thought for the day is DONT BRAG! Dont you just hate it when you have to sit through an evening with someone who has done everything, seen everything, purchased everything, etc? You know the ones. If you stayed at the Taj Mahal, they stayed at Michael Jacksons mansion, if you bought new shoes at the mall, they bought six pairs at the same time, if you won first place in a contest, they won that same contest three times, two years ago. In other words, they feel themselves important and they just have to let the world know. Well, demanding respect is like chasing a butterfly. Chase it and youll never catch it. Sit still and it might land on your shoulder. If you want people to speak well of you, then never speak well of yourself. Maybe thats why the Bible says Dont praise yourself. Let someone else do it. Does your self esteem need attention? You dont need to drop names or show off. You only need to pause at the base of the cross and be reminded that the maker of the moon and the stars would rather die for you than live without you. And thats a fact. So, if you have to brag, brag about that! P.S. In my 36 years in the media, I have met celebrities from all walks of life. I have stayed in unbelievable hotels and eaten in restaurants that charged outlandish prices for things that never tasted as good as a home cooked meal of crispy fried chicken, mac & cheese,turnip greens, cornbread, banana pudding, etc., but those people and those places were just memories for my olden days, and perhaps, to write about in a book. My family and friends are here at home, where Ill be until God calls me home. Some people have gotten so important through their titles and credit cards that they dont want to go back home anymore. P.S. Home is where the heart is whether the house is still standing or not, and when you really need someone to lend a hand in a time of need, its those HOMIES who will answer the call.
