An attorney, Lisa is a font of information on disability rights and estate planning issues. Please bring your questions for an informative evening. Tuesday, January 20, 2015 6-8 p.m. Thomas F. Kendziorski, Esq., executive director of The Arc of Oakland County, Inc. will speak to us about the Etheridge Plan, fiscal intermediary services especially in regards to paying supports, and guardianship/DPOA choices. The EPLAN can ensure consistent follow-up advocacy, in a consultative capacity, for the person with intellectual impairment and/or other developmental disabilities when their parents/families no longer can. Tom will also explain the role of a fiscal intermediary, and guardianship versus durable power of attorney. An attorney, Tom is a terrific source of information on these and many other topics. Tuesday, February 17, 2015 6-8 p.m. Chuck Bratton, CHN Housing Resource manager, will share his knowledge of property management. CHN is the property manager for more than 640 properties in Oakland, Macomb, Wayne and St. Clair counties, including single family and multi-family dwellings, licensed and unlicensed homes (also called personal residences or SIPs). For families developing personal residences, a property management company may be a welcome addition to your team - especially when you are no longer willing or able to provide that service to your son or daughters home. Come learn about another option for sustainability. Chuck is also CHNs source for families seeking individual counseling on creating a long-term housing plan or setting up housing. Please bring your questions for an informative session. If you have any questions with regards to the upcoming support groups, please contact Linda Ronan Brown at 248-269-1346 or [email protected].
