GNS PWAJOK AND THE WILL OF GOD Recently, most Political Parties in Nigeria especially the prominent ones, no disrespect intended concluded primary elections to select candidates they (parties) will present for the general election in February 2015. To arrive at the various candidates, the participating political parties adopted varying methodologies supported by the constitutions and bye laws of their respective political parties. While these primaries have come and gone, the debate on the process rages on. To those who won, the elections were peaceful, free and fair and a representation of the will of the people. Even though some believe that the processed can still be improved upon in the future. On the other hand, those who lost saw the process as a complete summersault of everything that represents due process; they saw the process as being marred by monumental irregularities of the magnitude of titanic. Yet to some the entire scenario was not different from that of a trade fare; the coming together of willing buyers and willing sellers (Aspirants and Delegates) to transact in votes and under this condition, deals are determined by the forces of demand and supply and in most cases, scarcity will always trigger an astronomical rise in prices, therefore only those who could afford the highest price end up buying; in this case end up voted! This scenario was prevalent throughout the country across party lines, APC inclusive. Whichever contraption was deployed to achieving the objective, candidates emerged for all participating political parties in the country. While I concede that there is a huge problem on ground that should indeed constitute a national emergency. Unfortunately, we will always miss the point where solutions may be found when we reduce the problem to particular individuals, political parties and ethnic groups. Interestingly In the midst of all these, Nigerians are viewed as the most religious people in the world. This assertion might draw some credence considering the magnitude of mosques and churches that have changed our architectural lands scape and the respective adherents that dot the length and breadth of this country. To God is the Glory. One is left wondering, if all these happened amongst God’s people, Christians and Moslems alike. It then brings to mind the question, where is God in this whole equation of man? Let’s consider some passages from the holy book, the Bible, …this sentence is by the decree of the [heavenly] watchers and the decision is by the word of the holy ones, to the intent that the living may know that the Most High [God] rules the kingdom of mankind and gives it to whomever He will and sets over it the humblest and lowliest of men. Daniel 4: 17-18(Amplified) This means therefore, that God is ever present, ever interested and actively dictates the outcome of the result of what men are doing. In spite of all human efforts the sovereignty of God is involved in enthronement and dethronement of Kings. … no-one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt a man. But it is God who judges: He brings one down; he exalts another. Psalm 75:6-7 (Amplified) It therefor means that, whether God causes a thing to happen or allows a thing to happen it is his will to do so. This is what is called the will of God. This must not be convenient for us, it must not be easy for us, it must not make sense at the beginning and the reason is simple, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” Isaiah 55:8-9 While some of us are yet to come to terms with the outcome of the recently concluded primaries, especially the governorship primaries in Plateau State, the result might after all represent the will of God. Not everyone will agree with me on this but this is what it is. In spite of what the critics of the emergence of Senator GNS Pwajok as the flag bearer of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have to say on the process that produced him, If God has ordained him to be the next governor of plateau State, any opposition will only amount to exercise in futility. They might just be fighting the will of God or trying to curse whom God has blessed.Let us look at what happens when you attempt to curse whom God has blessed; Then Balaam uttered his oracle: “Balak brought me from Aram, the king of Moab from the eastern mountains. ‘Come,’ he said, ‘curse Jacob for me; come, denounce Israel.’ How can I curse those whom God has not cursed? How can I denounce those whom the LORD has not denounced? Balak said to Balaam, “What have you done to me? I brought you to curse my enemies, but you have done nothing but bless them!” He answered, “Must I not speak what the LORD puts in my mouth?” I have received a command to bless; he has blessed, and I cannot change it. Number23:7,8,11,12&20 Like I mentioned earlier, the emergence of GNS Pwajok might not represent the minds and aspiration of everyone on the Plateau, but this is normal. Yet, those who will not join the ‘Greater Together Movement’ must exercise restraint as they express their disappointments so as not to sin against God. I have read a lot of comments relating to the subject matter posted on social media; the purported blood covenant between Senator GNS Pwajok and Baba Jang, the so called Du agenda and found many including Pastors to have fallen into this trap, the temptation of believing what is false. Some, out of anger and desperation have been quick to make unguarded utterances this is sad. Folks, it is a period of decision making and I urge us all to reflect over this matter prayerfully and ask God what He will have us do at a time such as this. We may not know how and what good can come out of this. So, rather than waste precious time abusing, castigating and demonizing Baba Jang, the Bible enjoins us Christians to pray for him; I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone — for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, 1Timothy 2:1-2(NIV) In the light of the scriptures, it is my conclusion therefor, that it is abundantly clear that the Lord God who has all power in heaven and on earth and who is all knowing and ever present, holds the key to who rules over any state, nation or people. He gives it to anyone he wants irrespective of tribe or geographical location and sets the lowliest of men over the highest to rule over them. This may just be what will happen. Please let us pray more and talk less and leave judgment to God. Kudu 05/01/2015
