GOD DOES NOT SNOOZE By Lakan Mariano He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you Psalm 121:3-5 There were times when Kim was nervous when I was alone with our kids when they were little. Micah was probably about four-years old and Josh was about two when she came home one Saturday afternoon and she found the boys having a blast with the Tupperware and canned goods scattered all over the kitchen floor. And dad was nowhere near. Kim found me snoozing away in the living room, oblivious to the world, certainly not keeping an eye on the boys. Being awake does not ensure my attentiveness either. I love listening to books on CD when I travel and I have found myself miles away from my destination or in strange places because I got lost in the story. God does not get distracted. He does not slumber because He never gets drowsy from tiredness. He does not sleep. There is not a second when He takes His eyes off His child. There is no darkness than can ever hide you from Him. If I say, Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me, even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you (Psalm 139:11-12). There may be times when the storms are so fierce you feel all alone and scared. But the reality of His watchful and protective care over you is real because He has said so. In His Word. In the Bible. And He has proven Himself, His faithfulness to His Word over and over. I am God, the only God you’ve had or ever will have—incomparable, irreplaceable... I’ve said it, and I’ll most certainly do it. I’ve planned it, so it’s as good as done (Isaiah 46:9, 11, MSG). As a follower of Jesus Christ you can rest on God. You can rest on His watchful and protective care. Whatever you face. However fierce the storm. However alone you may feel, you are never alone. You are never without protection. You are never without God. The LORD... watches over your life. The LORD keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever (Psalm 121:7, 8).
