GOD OF ENOCH 5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not - TopicsExpress

GOD OF ENOCH 5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Heb 11:5-6 Adam did not search for God, he just knew him. Adam needed no faith to believe in God. You do not need faith to believe what you can already see. But no other person after Adam and Eve had that privilege. We must believe what we cannot see nor prove without a shadow of doubt that it truly exists. This is why the experience of Enoch with God is unique and superlative. Enoch lived in an age where they just had stories of Eden, Cain and Abel. No one had a definite proof that indeed God existed. Yes they had experiences and phenomena they couldn’t explain. But it neither proofed the existence or non-existence of God. In that respect, Enoch’s society was very much like our society today. God desired desperately to show himself to man. But how could He do it? Enoch took the stories about God and the supernatural like every other person. For 65 years he lived a very ordinary life. Then something happened to Enoch. He got transformed. Maybe it was the miracle of the birth of his son, Methusaleh. Every father knows how incredible it is when you imagine how life is conceived in the womb and successfully birthed. I strongly believe it was this miracle that prompted Enoch into searching for God in a more intense and personal way. Could it be that his wife was facing death in the throes of pregnancy and he had prayed to God asking for intervention? If you read the entry about Enoch in Hebrews 11, it seems to suggest that this was the case. Enoch came looking for a reward – what that reward was we are not told. But since in Genesis it is clear that the turning point of his life was after the birth of his son, then it is almost safe to make that assumption. He came humbly and believing and whatever it was he got an answer that proved beyond doubt that God existed. So he too decided to keep his side of the bargain. Enoch chose to walk with God no matter what everyone else said. It is instructive that he was a regular family man. He had many children – male and female – so we can see that his search for God did not pull him away from his daily activities. But there was something unique about his relationship with God. It was close, intimate and consistent. 24 but Enoch had such a close and intimate relationship with God that one day he just vanished—God took him. Gen 5:24 (VOICE) We know Enoch to be a prophet. His life is even a prophetic parable. He prophesies of the coming judgement and shows that the only way to escape it is through a daily walk with God. The prophecy first found fulfilment in the days of his great grandchild – Noah, and yet again will be fulfilled at the second coming of Christ. But who is the God of Enoch? Or to put it in another way, “how does Enoch reveal God to us?” Enoch shows that God wants to be involved in the daily affairs of our lives. It is significant that he lived 365 years. 365 days make one year. Enoch shows us that God can be revealed in the buying and selling, in the office, in the home and He still remains God. Enoch’s God is the God that rewards diligent seekers. Enoch became more like God as he walked with God until one day he was given the nature of God that defies death. We don’t know how exactly it happened, but we know this one thing: it happened when Enoch walked with God and redefined the human experience of who God is. Enoch is the proof that you can beat death. Can that still happen today? The answer is simple but we like to complicate things. The Bible says the same God that was yesterday, is the same today and forever. If there are no persons being translated into heaven it is simply because no one else has dared to trust God that much. Yes it borders on the realm of fanatical madness. But that is the only way God has been defined throughout human history. What will your walk with God on earth redefine? How will the world see God through your experience? It was Enoch’s walk that inspired Elijah’s fiery Chariot experience. Who is being inspired by your experience of God? Activity: List three things you do daily that you want to have more of God’s participation and expression. How will you know when God increases his participation in these areas? Will it be more songs written? More sales made? More miracles? Dare your God to give you an unbelievable experience. The World waits. OMG! © DeepWords Devotional
