“GOD SAID I SHOULD BE PATIENT WITH YOU!” I said to my wonderful hubby yesterday! “I need to be patient with you!” he replied! Turns out we both need to be patient with each other and this is my latest and biggest lesson in marriage. And speaking of lessons, I have some that a new friend and I came up with on Saturday that not only apply to marriages, but to all great relationships: 1. Make God the center. Acknowledge and please Him in all your ways! He’s our ultimate Boss! 2. Respect one another and always refer back to rule 1. 3. Forgive endlessly-keep forgiving as nobody’s perfect! Become a professional ignorer- kindly and respectfully, of course! 4. 80/20 rule – Focus on the 80% positives and be happy or focus on the 20% negative and be miserable! 5. Live kindly and love extravagantly! Lover covers many faults - Practice being patient and bearing with each other. 6. Ask “How may I serve?” and “What can I give?” not “What’s in this for me?” 7. Commit to sticking/battling it out through the tough times, as it only gets better after you go through those rough spots together. 8. Don’t worry about whether they’ll be there tomorrow, savor every moment together instead. 9. Leave the past in the past, but remember the lessons they taught you. 10. Worry about nothing, pray about everything-let prayer be a lifestyle-discuss everything with God! Listen for His direction in those 1,000 decisions you make every day. WE ROLL WITH GOD!
