GOD’S PROMISE FOR YOU TODAY.... Zephaniah 3:17 ‘The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.’ My dearly beloved friends in Christ, the Prophet Zephaniah gives us 5 reasons why we should not be anxious in life. Let us look at each of the 5 reasons now. 1) The Lord your God is with you – When the presence of God is with you, you can be guaranteed that everything is going to be okay. Because the presence of the Lord was with David, he boldly challenged Goliath the giant and defeated him. Because the presence of God was with Gideon with an army of 300 he defeated the whole host of Midian. That is why we insist on a being filled with the Holy Spirit and leading a holy life. When these two conditions are met only will the presence of God dwell with you. 2) He is mighty to save – We sometimes forget who the Lord is. We think He is governed by the state of affairs of this world and is constrained by it. Psalm 104: 5-9 says ‘He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved. You covered it with the deep as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains. But at your rebuke the waters fled, at the sound of your thunder they took to flight; they flowed over the mountains they went down into the valleys to the place you assigned for them. You set a boundary they cannot cross never again will they cover the earth.’ Basically the earth listens to the Lord so my friend you do not need to worry. The LORD IS MIGHTY TO SAVE YOU! 3) He will take great delight in you – His favour is all you need to lead this life. It is the favour of God that made Joseph win the approval of Pharaoh. It is the favour of God that made a Prime Minister of an Empire out of a prisoner boy named Daniel. It is the favour of God that made a Queen of an Empire out of Esther who was an exile in the land of Persia. Favour means that the Lord holds you in high esteem and honours you. The favour of the Lord is always upon the righteous (Psalm 6:12 ‘For surely O Lord you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favour as with a shield.’) 4) He will quiet you with His love - John 14:27 says ‘Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.’ The peace the Lord promises in Hebrew is called shalom and this encompasses tranquillity, rest, calm, harmony, unity, well being and prosperity. 5) He will rejoice over you with singing – There is nothing comparable to the Joy of the Lord. Sometimes people in office ask me how come you’re not coming to this party that party it is going to be so fun. Next day when you meet them that joy they had has diminished because the fun only lasted for a few hours and then back again in the morning they still have that emptiness in their hearts. But the Joy of the Lord lasts forever and it only increases every time you are in the presence of the Lord praising and worshipping Him. Psalm 84:10 says ‘better is one day in your courts than a thousand days elsewhere’ So keep praising and worshipping Him on every occasion and His joy will come over you that is His promise. So my friends I have showed you from the WORD, 5 reasons why you should not worry or be anxious for any reason whatsoever. So I pray that from this day forward you will keep these 5 reasons in your heart and no matter what the situation is you will not worry because the Lord is with you, He is mighty to save, His favour is upon you, His love will quiet you and His joy will be your strength.
