GOOD AFTERNOON FACEBOOK FRIENDS! Does anybody have time to do some reading from an inspiring story but true? I was doing some reading today and the Lord directed me to the book of Isaiah chapter 30, verse 21… Your own ears will hear Him. Right behind you a voice will say, this is the way you should go,-whether to the right or to the left. Of course, this is just a paraphrase somewhat but you may read the actual King James version if you prefer. Also, I ran up on a story from brother Rick Meyers. And, he use this spiritual inspired subject, Whos Your Caddy? Anyway, he shared the story about Tommy Bolt who won the 1958 US open (Golf Tournament). As I was reading this little brief story, I googled the name_Tommy Bolt. So, I read about how he was a top golfer and how he was known better for his temper or should I say he had a reputation for throwing tantrums and not to mention the golf clubs. He was from Batesville Arkansas and lived in Cherokee Village, Arkansas. I continued reading about how the public came to know him as Terrible Tempered Tommy. People begin informing journalists about Mr. Bolts temper by swearing to the truth as they shared about the different events. But anyway let me get to what Im really trying to share here... During that time, professional golfers didnt have their own caddies like they do today. As Bolt made it to the place where the event would take place, he was approached by a youngster, Mr. Bolt, do you need a Caddy, Sir? And then it goes on to say how the young man was unseasoned so it seemed. But Mr. Bolt replied, Ill let you know, kid. After that, he went to the caddy master and asked about the young man. The caddy master informed him, hes a real good caddy, he knows the course, the greens, and the rules of the game. But he talks a lot. I think that was all that Mr. Bolt needed to know. So he went back to the young man and said, yes, you can caddy for me on one condition: Dont say a word. And pretty well you can guess what happened next; especially when someone think that they are in control of everything just as Mr. Bolt thought. Yet, the kid accepted and carried the bag for the Open champion. So, the first round went well and the second, and third. Then, the next thing you know, Mr. Bolt got into a heated disagreement during the fourth round. This took place when an errant tee shot landed in the rough. The ball was sitting down in a bad patch of turf. Now the shot is a risky one to the green and to add onto that, it is guarded by water on the right. All of a sudden, hes not in control like he thought. Bolt asked the kid, you think a five iron would do the trick? Dont forget hes already told the kid to not say a word. Of course the kid just shook his head, no! And he never said a word. Here goes Mr. Bolt again, what, you want me to hit a six iron? The young man just shook his head again, no! But he never said a word. It didnt matter though. Mr. Bolt grabbed a six iron and lashed the ball out of the rough and landed on the green, rolling to about 3 feet for a birdie. As they walked to the green, Bolt said, Arent you going to say something now, after seeing a shot like that? The kid then replied, Mr. Bolt, that wasnt your ball! How about that?!! And I will say Amen to that similitude! I myself have been guilty of that one in life. And, many of us go through life with a Caddy we never let speak. Yes, you guessed it just right; He is the Holy Spirit! And if we would only listen to Him in a true holy relationship, he would save as many penalty strokes on the golf course of life. And the big question is... Starting with me, first, is that a five iron in my hand! Ask yourself the same question as well. Are we about to hit the wrong ball? Remember, thats an individual question.
