GOOD AFTERNOON FRIENDS! Can I ask for 5 minutes of your time. Please read below, the amazing plan of my colleague from Cardiff. Anything you can donate would be very much appreciated. Even if you could share this, I would be very happy with that. Thank you xxx - "Hi All, I hope you are all well. My name is James Parry and I’m a second year planning apprentice, based in Cardiff, South Wales. In February 2014, I am embarking on an extremely challenging, unique journey to Africa, where I will be renovating & rebuilding a primary school in the Kibera Slums of Nairobi, Kenya. The Kibera Slums is an area about 1.5 square miles but with a population of over 1 million. Most people living in Kibera have little or no access to basic necessities, such as electricity, clean water, toilet facilities or sewage disposal. The combination of poor nutrition and lack of sanitation accounts for many illnesses and deaths, especially in young children. I aim to make a lasting difference on these children’s future and with your help, support and kindness; we can improve & enhance the lives of hundreds of children. As part of this 12 day trip, I will also be undertaking an endurance challenge of climbing Mount Kenya. At the Point Lenana Summit (4,985 metres) Mount Kenya is the country’s highest mountain and the second highest peak in Africa after Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. To put this into perspective, Lenana Point is over three times higher than Ben Nevis – the UK’s highest point – at 1,344 metres!! This is really going to push me to my limits and test my physical & mental ability. However, due to the sponsorship and donations given by people like you, there will be enough motivation to power on through until I reach the top. PLEASE NOTE: I have PERSONALLY paid for all costs related to the Mountain trek as a separate commitment. Your donation will NOT be used to cover this element. In order to take part in the challenge, I need to raise a minimum sum of £3500. This is where I need some serious help from you guys! I would really appreciate your support and any donations you are able to make, as every single penny helps !! You can visit my fundraising page here: https://mydonate.bt/fundraisers/jamesparry Or if any of your colleagues, friends or family are interested in donating a small fee, please pass this message on. A big thanks in advance for your support, I’ll keep you updated on how things are going. Cheers James"
