GOOD NEWS: CRTC - Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commissionwrites that all Canadians will have access to information during emergency situations. In response to a letter from CHS, the CRTC writes that all broadcasters follow the CRTCs Accessibility Policy to have 100% closed captioning on all programming including live announcements with public officials. In addition, the broadcast of a sign language message as soon as possible is identified as a best practice. Effective April 1, 2015 all broadcasters will be participating in Public Safety Canadas national public alerting system with emergency alerts in both oral and visual formats.
