GOSPEL – THE WORD OF FAITH What is the ‘Word of faith’? The ‘Word of faith’ is simply ‘The Gospel’: wherever I have used ‘the word of faith’, you can replace it with ‘Gospel’: As it is written, “The word is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved.” (Romans 10:8-9) Since the gospel is the word of faith, the gospel has existed since faith existed in man: The gospel did not start when Christ was born, neither did the gospel started with Matthew, Mark, Luke and John; rather the gospel has being since men had to believe God through faith, in order for his word to be fulfilled. For instance, Abraham heard the gospel (word of faith) which God himself preached to him, saying, “In you shall all nations be blessed” (Galatians 3:8). There (in Galatians 3:8), you will discover that to be blessed means to be justified and holy; whatever is blessed by God is holy and sanctified. Now the word of faith (gospel) is a separate kind of the word of God which depends on faith to be fulfilled: Meaning the word of God is classified into two: 1. The Imperial Word of God: This is the authoritative word of God that does not depend on anything to be fulfilled: For he commands all things and they must obey immediately or be done accordingly. 2. The Gospel (Word of faith): This is the relational word of God that depends on faith to be fulfilled: For the power and profit lies in faith, and only faith respects faith. Therefore, Gospel is powerless or profitless where there is no faith because it is the word of faith: As it is written, “For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.” (Hebrews 4:2). But where there is faith, the Gospel becomes great power and profit: As it is written, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”” (Romans 1:16-17).
