GOVERNMENT AND GOVERNED. The government refers to the people that hold political powers or offices to administer the affairs of the nation, or state, or local district, while the governed are the citizens who vote the elective office holders into office. The surmary of all the duties of the government is to cater for the adequate WELFARE of the populce. The duty of the populace is to demand for good governance that will discharge the aforementioned duty. Thus, good governance requires a collective and colaborative efforts. The people must speak up, and speak out against misgovernance or misrule in order to force or compel the government to live up to the peoples expectation. A closed mouth is a closed destiny. If the governed fail to show interest or fail to be involved in the way their lives are being governed and in the way their common resources are being managed and shared, the politicians/government will only rule for their personal aggrandizement. This is what people like Williams Wilberforce, Martins Luther , Nelson Mandela, Bishop Tutu of South Africa etc did to change bad governance into good governance. Remember, evil will always flourish in any nation when the populce fold their alms and fail to figth it. Good governance is not cheap, it requires active participation and involvement of the citizenry. So, dont just sit down, dey look, when the politicians are toiling and gambling with our destines and that of our children as well. If we keep silence when we are suppose to speak out, posterity may not be merciful unto us. Even the bible says, ask and it shall be given unto you ...Matt. 7 : 7. Thus, let us begin to ask for good governance, let us ask for accountability, let us ask for security, let us ask for good welfare for ourselves and children etc. This country belongs to all Nigerians, it does not belong to the politicians alone. Be patrotic and nationalistic.
