GOVERNOR MBUGUA CALLS FOR TRANSFORMATIVE LEADERSHIP MEDIA RELEASE 19th July 2014 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE; Nakuru 19th July 2014 - Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has cited transformative leadership as one of the key ingredient to the growth and development of the County. He said focused leadership will propel the County to greater heights and should also be assessed to check its gains. We need this kind of leadership from each and every one of you. You have to be leaders who are concerned and involved in the whole process, you should be focused on helping your constituents succeed as well. He was speaking at the Bahati Constituency Leadership Consultative Forum yesterday held at the Kenya Industrial Training Institute (KITI) in Nakuru, where more than 300 leaders from Bahati came together to discuss the way forward in regards to development in the constituency. Governor Mbugua noted with much satisfaction the gains displayed by the various leaders at the forum who also tabled their achievements in serving the people of Bahati Constituency. I endorse the reports that have been presented here today which goes a long way to show the commitment you have placed in fulfilling your mandate to your constituents. Collectively we can achieve much more if all sectors of leadership come together as one. He also urged the leaders to shun petty politics and instead focus on the development agenda. No one should use petty politics to undermine the good work that you are all doing. What we are seeing here today is a product of good leadership from you all and it would be a shame to see certain negative elements coming in to destroy that. Governor Mbugua called upon the leaders to invest wisely when using the funds allocated to them. We must concentrate on high value programs/projects that will have a deeper impact. One of the most needed projects is the construction of ECDE classrooms in schools to provide a conducive environment for our children to learn in. You should also find ways to manage the resources allocated to you wisely. Governor Mbugua also said from the Sh7.2 Billion allocated by the national government, Sh2 Billion will entirely be utilized in a rotational fund in electrification and provision of health services. Bahati Member of Parliament Hon. Kimani Ngunjiri who was the convener of the forum, said the Nakuru County Government has played its part in ensuring that the devolution process is undertaken smoothly. Our County is doing well and has co-operated with us very effectively. Let us be accountable as leaders and utilize the cordial relationship we have with the County Government. He also urged all leaders to be at the forefront of fighting non-developmental agendas being pushed by some politicians. Certain leaders are asking for a referendum which will damage the already great strides we have achieved this far as a country. I request you all to follow the constitution as it is and not waste time going back to another referendum. He urged leaders to co-operate together and nurture the spirit of unity in Nakuru County. Propaganda is rife in Nakuru County and this trend must stop. Let’s respect each other as leaders and instead work together to a common good. In the forum, various reports were presented including the Bahati Constituency CDF 2013-2014 Project Implementation Report, Roads rehabilitation report where most of the roads and other key projects were completed while others were on-going.
