GRAND TIME AT DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA, USA One week in Daytona Beach relaxing by the sea and sand combined with some sightseeings in its environs made our summer vacation extra special. Daytona has some gorgeous red and white sandy beaches which are ideal for swimmers and sun bathers. Its Daytona 500 Stadium is also famous for NASCAR races and other types high speed vehicle racing. There are several great restaurants that offer a plethora of tasty seafood, meats and other culinary delights that would cater to the appetites of hungry patrons and guests. We enjoyed the scenic drive (The Loop) through the sea coast and to the thick forests of palmetto palms and oak trees covered with Spanish moss. We really appreciated this awesome experience in this part of Florida. We also visited the Bulow Park where a magnificent 2,000 year old Fairchild Oak Tree grows. Spanish moss adorns its wide and stately branches. We took some walks through the hiking trails and encountered a marvelous show of flora and fauna. We ended our day exploring the Mattanza State Park where we took the boat cruise to the Mattanza Fort island. This was the Spanish stronghold built in mid 1700s as a military defense against the French and British invasions. No foreign other nation took possession of this fort until Spain handed it over to the Americans. We saw some dolphins, ghost and hermit crabs, birds and numerous other types of wildlife. We had a wonderful experience!
