GREAT TESTIMONIAL! Crohns Testimonial - Jackie Braddock By Jackie Braddock on Monday, 4 February 2013 I came down with Crohns in July 2000. Crohns is an Inflammatory Bowel Disease which when a flare up occurs causes severe cramping, sickness, diarrhoea. I was so ill at the time when I cramped I had to move around the house on all fours. I went down to 6 stone as I could only eat small things. If I ate too much I would throw it back up again. Doctors told me it was just IBS but I knew it wasn’t. I eventually got them to refer me to a specialist and in November 2000 I was finally diagnosed (family history of Colitis and the doctors knew this). I had a resection operation in January 2001 (this is where they remove the inflamed bowel section since no food was getting through and the steroids were not working) and join up my bowel again. However the resection came apart the next day as they hadn’t realised how malnourished I was. The collapse resulted in Septicaemia, Pneumonia and Peritonitis and only 5% chance of survival. Parents were called as I wasn’t expected to survive the night. But I did. I went down to 5 stone and was told I couldn’t go back to work until I was 8 stone. The Pneumonia caused fluid on my lung where I had to have over a 1 litre removed by placing a 50ml syringe in my back. I was often on oxygen or a nebuliser and going up stairs was very tiring. I also ended up with a temporary ileostomy (bag) which over the year I had it, leaked, changed shape and misbehaved as much as it could. I was advised that I should avoid fruit and veg but wasnt really advised how to eat healthily with Crohns - Was advised to eat bulky meals like pie and chips to gain the weight so ate badly in between meals. Got to 8 stone and got back to work 3 months after my resection. Had my ileostomy reversal in Dec 2001 and due to the scarring from both my resection and reversal I remained quite inactive for several years. I have now continued with my Amateur Dramatics (Brighouse Theatre Productions) and I love Zumba and Salsa Dancing. My Eczema came back on my elbows and hands and I also have Arthritis related to my Crohns Disease. Basically if there are any inflammatory conditions my body would love to have them. I was introduced to Forever just over 3 years ago as a customer and joined the company at end of Oct 2010 as the products were fantastic for my Crohns/Arthritis/Asthma and Eczema. Originally joined to make new friends but since I was made redundant in July 2011 after 16 years for the Halifax bank, I am now doing Forever full-time with an even bigger Why. Since we have so many fantastic products in the Forever range, I have now started to concentrate on a particular product area. Since I never got the best advice for my digestive issues and how fantastic the products have been for me I am concentrating on the things I love like exercise and better nutrition. I share my story and the love of the products that have helped me over the last 3 years. I wish I was introduced to them years back at the beginning of my health issues Lots of people like me who have invisible illnesses, who suffer in silence and their quality of life could be improved so much by using our products. What have I used over the last 3 years to assist with my inflammatory conditions? I drink the Aloe Gels for my digestion, Berry Nectar for my Asthma and Freedom for my Arthritis. I drink 120ml a day and sometimes will have a cocktail of all three. Yes it has a distinctive taste but when has any healthy really tasted good. I have done the Clean 9 several times (the nutritional detox). My resection has meant that I do not absorb nutrients well. If my digestive tract is blocked this would make it even more difficult. By doing the Clean 9 means not only am I unblocking my digestive tract, keeping any inflammation at bay but because of the nutrients in the Aloe, I am feeding my body as well as cleansing it of toxins and “crap” So great as a Waste management tool as well as being great for my waist. I drink our L’Arginine drink (Argi) when I am doing Zumba and have done 2 high intensity classes in a row without feeling tired. I also drink Argi when doing my theatre shows as I need more energy to get through big dance numbers. Talking of energy, I take 2 Bee Pollen in the morning and 2 Bee Pollen in the Afternoon. A great multi vitamin and energy booster For my joints I take Arctic Sea and Active HA. I need to take a Calcium Supplement for my Crohns so I have moved over to our Calcium version. Nature Min is a must so I get the correct amount of minerals and Fields of Greens as I still don’t eat enough veg. I also take A Beta CarE as it contains A, and E vits and selenium which are antioxidant nutrients. When I went to see the Chiropractor he said that I had no movement from the 2nd vertebrae to the 10th and didn’t know how I was walking let alone dancing. He was very surprised how much movement I do have. I no longer have to attend the Rheumatology clinic each year anymore as my arthritis is no longer deemed bad enough. I also had my energy levels checked with an electronic acupuncture device ay a health/wellness event and the therapist was blown away that my energy levels were so great. I love Aloe and in 2012 thanks to an ignited passion for better nutrition and some fantastic Forever trainings I undertook a Level 4 nutrition course so I am now a fully qualified nutritionist. I love Forever and recommend it wholeheartedly to my clients. (We have got permission to share)
