GREAT idea! Start sharing and be sure to include standwithvets in your posting. Today (Wednesday, June 11) at 10 a.m. Azrepublic is launching a social media project in which we’ll invite Arizonans to start publishing photos of themselves with one of their favorites vets. It might be a living member of their family or a deceased member in portraiture. The goal here is to give people in this state a vehicle to express their solidarity with our veterans who are going through such a hard time right now with the VA scandal. There’s no implied message other than we care about our veterans. We’ll be publishing these photos with the hashtag #StandWithVets on social media (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram). To get us started we’ve invited some of our Arizona Republic columnists and some of the biggest celebrities in Arizona to help kick it off. They were eager to participate. We’d like to invite your members and their families to participate. All they need do is take a photo of themselves holding a photo of a loved one who served and either Tweet it out or post it on Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #StandWithVets. If they don’t know how to use social media, they can e-mail it directly to me at phil.boas@arizonarepublic. We’ll be publishing these photos on azcentral, in The Arizona Republic and showing them on 12 News. If your vets or their families would like to participate, we’d love to have them. Thank you, - Phil
