GUESS WHAT, GUESS WHAT, GUESS WHAT!!!! We are only 2 weeks out - TopicsExpress

GUESS WHAT, GUESS WHAT, GUESS WHAT!!!! We are only 2 weeks out from the fire and though yesterday was physically and emotionally painful and stressful, we finished going through all the personal property that was without question a loss. There will be more as the two restoration companies complete the drying and ozoning process but at 730pm we put 2 boxes aside and everything else became history. Now that is good news, but not the best. Yesterday we found out that they have decided that the cabinets that I hate are a total loss and must be replaced for sure!! YEAHHHHHH! They completed all of their clean up and debris removal (except for the the stuff we inventoried as loss yesterday which will be trashed today) and wait for it...... First thing this morning we got a call from the builder we initially wanted. He wasnt fully licensed here in Brentwood yet when we first met so we werent sure he could do it. He has gotten the license completed and we are meeting at 12 to sign contracts and start talking about what we want to do. We are on our way home!!! I know of course, that the process of turning the skeleton of a 4200 sq ft house will take months but to me, this is a terrific day!! My knee does not hurt, my kids are all happy and healthy, my Jamie and I are stressed but kind to one another ( most of the time teeheehee), the fungus has left the building, the destruction is over and all though stressful, and now the rebirth of what will now be totally OUR HOME is beginning!! I am not always a very positive person, some may even say I am actually quite the opposite but all of this makes a person reassess things. I can honestly say that it used to be a joke, that if 50 people were standing in a room and someone had to be hurt ( think hunger games) it would be a Tobin! We have had a really rough road and generally when its rough, it has always gotten rougher. But not this time. I had begun questioning whether this was where we should be, if we had made the right choice coming to Brentwood, but I know now we did. We have made great friends that, from the first day, were right there beside us holding us and lifting us up despite there own tragedy happening at he exact same time and opening their home to 20 or 30 teenagers for a party as they were going out of town, just to keep my baby happy. We have great friends that have and still are bringing us dinner since my surgery. My kitchen here is not yet equipped to actually cook for my family and the food has been so wonderful in continuing our family dinners at the table together. And then last night, 2 women who we do not know, had read about the fire in the press and THEY made us dinner. It was an old family recipe and because they knew we had kids, they modified it because they didnt want anyone to miss out. We are very blessed to be in Brentwood and I am so thankful for everyone across the country who has been praying and sending us love since all of this started. Dinner is yummy but friends from all over taking time out of their day to just say hi is just as wonderful!! So the joke about the Tobin luck will end here because everyday, everything that could have gone terribly wrong has gone right and quite smoothly in my opinion and I have no reason to believe that will stop here. Thank you everybody for reading these ramblings and commenting or liking them, it really means the world!! Love to u!
