GUITARIST WANTED SAN DIEGO,CA - send msg :inbox ********************************************************* JOHN SARHIANAKIS - INTERVIEW (INDIE ROCK MAGAZINE) Born in an artistic Greek family, it was a shock to everyone when John purchased his first electric guitar at 15 and started playing rock. A few bands later, a short stay in England , some military time, and transplanting to Los Angeles, and we have a up-and-coming star. Check out our interview and get to know what we are excited about. Indie Rock Magazine: Was a shock for you family when you decided to go with rock music as opposed to Greek music? John Sarhianakis: Haha!!!! I am the black sheep of my family! They are shocked!!! But NO!! Really my parents wanted me to go into music and the genre of music unimportant. Indie Rock Magazine: Is there a difference between English Rock and Greek Rock music? John Sarhianakis: The Greek Rock music is different from the English Rock, definitely. The melodies and lyrics are more often depressed and talk about pain and regret etc. in my Greek Album I followed the recipe of the English Rock Music because I had experience while I lived a year in England. Now that I think about it, that may be the reason it was such a commercial hit. The Album “Mia poli pou ehei sopasei…” Indie Rock Magazine: How was it different in the bands “No Name” from “Onar” to “Infrared”? John Sarhianakis: No Name: This was my first school band. As a teenager I did not have the motivation to deal seriously with the music, but we enjoyed the time. Onar: This band was the first serious and creative phase of my life in music. I started to compose my first songs during this time. Infrared: This was my first professional gig. I also made the move to lead singer for the first time. Indie Rock Magazine: Four days after it’s release, your album (John Sarhianakis : Mia poli pou ehei sopasei…) hit number one. How do you feel about that success? John Sarhianakis: I knew that I had created a good album, but I didn’t expect that it would be first in sales in all genre of music… It was amazing! I was very happy! Later I use it for motivation to get better and to see a bigger target. Indie Rock Magazine: What is your most memorable live show to date? John Sarhianakis: the most memorable live show is of course the Matala Festival 2012 Hippies Reunion. Unique experience. In the show were some of the hippies (flower children) of the decade of 60-70, who had come from around the world. After this show I wrote the song : “The Hippie”. Indie Rock Magazine: Now you live in Los Angeles, how has the culture shock been for you? John Sarhianakis: I have not actually had much of a shock. For years I watched the culture of American life and I knew well in advance what I will encounter. My love for music led me to chase the American dream… Indie Rock Magazine: Will you incorporate some of your native language on some of your new songs? John Sarhianakis: No, I think the English language is appropriate for rock music. Indie Rock Magazine: Is it more different for you to create melodies for English than in Greek? John Sarhianakis: For me is the same , whatever language it is. But I like more to write songs in English. Indie Rock Magazine: Describe a typical Day In The Life for you for our readers. John Sarhianakis: A typical day usually starts with a Greek Frappe, cold coffee, and a breakfast with Greek yogurt with honey at about 10 in the morning. At 12 noon I do vocal exercises for about an hour or so. After lunch ,usually I am surfing the internet and checking my emails. Then I spend some time on my computer writing and coming up with songs for my upcoming album. When I feel tired, I go for a beer at a nearby bar to relax and then back to Home Studio. Indie Rock Magazine: We appreciate the interview. Say hello to your friends and fans. John Sarhianakis: THANK all my fans and those who work behind me (Drums: Dimitris Koliothomas, Guitars: Kostas X, Bass: Takis Pinakoulakis, John Routsis, George Politis, Sound Engineer: Drew Cappotto, Monica Karapati and Vangelis Spanakakis). After the contest “Fiat Band Prix 2013” that my song : “The Hippe” came out in the third genre Alternative, I’ve promised to myself a Grammy Award!!!! Haha!!! I wish you love and peace and continue to listen to much rock music. Interview By Charles Bowens Indie Rock Magazine https://youtube/watch?v=n28r03QT-Jw indierockmagazine/ youtube/watch?v=m21OBkFullU
