GUJARAT: PG medical exam: GU to get 5 papers sets _ TOI news AHMEDABAD: In a bid to check malpractices during the postgraduate medical entrance examination, the Gujarat University (GU) has decided that this year the university will go ahead with its own admission procedure and the vice-chancellor will select question papers from five sets provided to him. GU officials said that the VC, M N Patel has decided that instead of hiring an agency for the examination, the university will conduct it on its own. It has also been decided that five sets of question papers will be given to the VC. The VC will decide on the final set on the last day and the same will be used during the examination. The officials said that once the examination begins, experts from various departments of the university will evaluate the papers and make sure that the question papers are error-free. The answer keys will also be prepared on the same day. For about 400 medical seats, around 1,200 to 1,500 students appear in the examination. However, the decision to conduct the examination without joining the common entrance test, has invited criticism from the students. Last year, the students were divided on the issue as some students felt that a separate admission procedure was aimed at benefiting some of the students who were close to the university authorities or were wards of influential doctors. This year also, a group of students has sought legal opinion and are now planning to challenge the move and press for a common entrance test for the PG medical courses.
