Gainesville-Buchholz 85, Community School 73 Buchholz used a 13-0 run early in the second quarter to take the lead and steadily outpaced Community School. The Seahawks didn’t score in the first four minutes of the second period and trailed the rest of the game. “The beginning of the second quarter really hurt us,” Community School coach Greg Donahue said. “(Buchholz) went into a 3-2 zone. We had some really good looks, we just didn’t make the shots.” Buchholz, a Class 7A school, led by 18 with four minutes left, but the Seahawks cut their deficit to nine in less than a minute. The Bobcats held on behind junior point guard Jalon Perry and senior small forward Bryan Chalifoux. Perry scored a game-high 27, while Chalifoux added 25. Zach Rochette and Charlie Badger, Community School’s only returning players who saw significant action last season, led the Seahawks. Rochette hit five 3-points and scored 24, including 12 in the fourth quarter. Badger had 16. It was the fifth straight loss for the Seahawks (5-7), who won their first 20 games last season and lost just once in the regular season. Community School lost six of its top eight leading scorers from last year, who accounted for 49.8 points per game. “We’re inexperienced,” Donahue said. “We have seven seniors, but they just haven’t had a lot of court time. They’re just trying to figure out the rotations.”
