Game 6 was held at Barlick Cricket Club on Friday 21st March and it was LBPN’s first ever Round of each tournament (Mixed NL Hold Em & Pot Limit Omaha) which attracted 33 players - another fantastic turnout again considering the initial scepticism regards the format. Overall the tournament was well received by the majority and will definitely be in the schedule for forthcoming seasons, with a few tweaks to avoid the ridiculously late 3am finish. I honestly expected chips to be flying like nobody’s business, hence the 15k starting stack, but people actually seemed to tighten up their game (and their decision making) and this led to the unexpected late finish. The feedback in general was positive and I think its about time we introduced a bit of Omaha to our league schedule, but for the remainder of this season at least, it’ll be NLHE all the way! This game created a prizepool of £650 to play for with a 1st prize of £225 on offer and a haul of 55 points up for grabs for the eventual winner. Damon Clark is doing his best to emulate Mike Scothern’s achievement of 9 out of 12 top 10 finishes from last season (8 out of 12 FT’s) and in turn he made his 5th final table appearance in 6 games this season – the man’s on fire!! Well done to all final tablists, particularly the top 7 (bubble saver done) that made the Wonga. The top 10 in reverse order were as follows: 10th Steve Wiggins 24 points, 9th Damon Clark 27 points, 8th Tom Hibbert 30 points (prize bubble), 7th Andrew Young 33 points & £30 (bubble saver), 6th Peter Booth 36 points & £45, 5th Daniel Koukoulos (Welcome back) 39 points & £55, 4th Chris Tilbury 42 points & £70, 3rd Kenny Stewart 45 points & £90, 2nd David Jones (New Player) 48 points and £140 and 1st Place Callum Wilson, 55 points & £225 – his second FT finish in 3 games since returning, WP Callum. We’re now at the half way point of the season and although the league is beginning to take shape, its still all to play for – just one good result can catapult a large number of players towards the very top of the table. If the numbers remain consistent as well, we could be looking at our best ever FT prize pool. The next league game is scheduled for Sunday 6th April, 2pm prompt start at The Green Street Club (Barnoldswick WMC) and will be a 7.5k + 7.5k NLHE Double Chance Freezeout format . It will be the usual £25 entry, no early bird bonus and no re-entry, but late entry will be available as normal. I hope to see as many of you there as possible. I’ll create an event on here for you to confirm to ASAP. Prior to that, this coming Friday 28th March is the WPTN-UK Newcastle 3 seat GTD qualifier to be held at Barlick CC, which is a £30 + £3 entry and a 7pm start and its a 12k NLHE Freezeout with single re-entry option – I anticipate this one to be well attended, so get your name down early. Until then, good luck at the tables.
