Game Spotlight: HIGH COMMAND High Command is a deck building - TopicsExpress

Game Spotlight: HIGH COMMAND High Command is a deck building card game set in the Iron Kindgoms of Privateer Press award winning games Warmachine and Hordes. It features most of the factions from the miniatures games, along with their characters, warriors, and either their robotic steampunk Warjacks or muscled and often hungry Warbeasts. Picking three unique and character Warcasters or Warlocks, depending on the base system you choose, you select three themed detachments of cards that form your Reinforcement deck and square yourself up at the start of the game with a basic set of Resources in your Army Deck to buy cards. The Reinforcement deck is used to cycle better Resoruce and Warrior, Warjack, or Warbeast cards into the purchasing area to either slowly accumulate into your Army Deck to later be drawn and played from the hand or spent as resources, or to rush into play at a higher cost straight otno the locations each player is fighting over. Not to be forgotten, those Warcasters or Warlocks can follow your other cards into play for brief periods, fighting side by side with your men in the trenches. Like most card games, the cards with fighting stats have a Power and Health, compared to that of the enemy to see whom is left standign (if anyone) at the end of a regular battle phase. Locations are thematic and will be familiar to players of the miniatures game or RPG, and by starting your round with two or more cards there than any enemy you capture them, scoring you not only precious victory points but also placing the Location card into your Army Deck to be used as a resources later in the game. Some Locations have specific effects when captured or even while in play, such as the infantry buffing effects of the Menite temples or choke point Gates of Sul in the Invasion of Sul expansion. Also effecting play are the Winds of War cards, a special deck divided into Early, Mid, and Late war, each with an effect on gameplay thematic to the phase of the current conflict. High Command is the game of SATGS first official event coming up at Infinity Games on the 15th of November, and is pretty quick to pick up if youve played any kind of deck building (Netrunner, Ascension) or dice bagging (Quarriors, Marvel: Dice Masters) game in recent years. The link below takes you to the tutorial video for anyone interested. I hope to see you there!
