GameStart 2014 conclusions: - Possibly the best gaming - TopicsExpress

GameStart 2014 conclusions: - Possibly the best gaming convention since Licence2Play 2012 (because L2P 2013 sucked balls). It has what a gaming convention should offer: game demos, previews and showcases, and even a booth for Sony PlayStation! I can say that this gaming convention can potentially grow to a mainstay of the Singapore AGC event calendar, and dare I say it can even potentially be the biggest gaming convention in Southeast Asia. This, however, can be achieved if they can work on a few shortcomings... - Giving cosplayers free entry is a good idea when you wish to bring colour to the event, but for a gaming convention that is darkened all over, its a bane for event photography. Its very fortunate that we are in the digital age where any shortcomings in photos can be fixed with photo-editing softwares... - To be frank, I cant find fault for this event because I truly enjoyed this event so much that I fanboyed so hard, and the organisers underestimated the reach of this event, not even predicting the overachievements that they received. Shortcomings aside, maybe reaching out to a few more gaming vendors in Singapore (Maxsoft is the first that came to mind to address the lack of Nintendo love) and roping in a few more gaming companies to promote their upcoming swag would make this a better event. Heck, maybe expand the event area to two halls while they are at it! - Out of all the contestants for the cosplay competition, the only performance that won me over is the Halo ODST skit featuring a Singaporean USMC. Local Singlish pride gushing all over! Credit to Jason Koh and the team from Neo Tokyo Project for their hard work in organising the cosplay competition (on top of helping make the whole event an overwhelming success) and great work to all of the contestants, you guys did really well, keep alive the love of your characters through cosplay! - To those tagged, thank you for making this event even more interesting, be it by saying hi, taking selfies and just general derping. It makes my event-going experiences more worthwhile, so thank you again! Overall, this event has a potential for growth, just needing a couple of years to hopefully blossom. Looking forward to a better GameStart next year!
