Gareths number 2: 2. The Mars Volta – De-loused in the Comatorium (whole album... don’t make me pick) Where to begin with this one... as a musician there are other musicians/bands/albums that influence you along the way in which you approach the craft. This album helped completely changed the way I played guitar. This album came out in 2003, which coincidently is also the time I started playing early Hazards songs with Rick & Adrian. Between learning new guitar playing techniques from Adrian and studying up on Omar’s (Volta guitarist) technique, I completely shed my rigid ‘metal’ right hand to develop a versatile approach. Long story short – this album changed my life, give it a listen.
