Gautam Buddha International T20 in OctoberKapilvastu Yuva Cricket Bikas Academywill organize the first Gautam Buddha International Twenty-20 Cricket Tournament in Taulihawa, Kapilvastu from October 12 to 18.At a press meet held in Kathmandu on Monday, the organizer informed that altogether 12 cricket teams -- six each from Nepal and India -- will participatein the knockout tournament. The matches will be held in Kapilvastu and Taulihawa.“Six Indian teams from Delhi, Lucknow,Haryana, Gorakhpur and Varanasi will participate in the tournament and will also include some players who have featured in the Ranji Trophy. However, we have not finalized any team from Nepal apart from the host,” said Gopi Krishna Sharma, the president of the academy.“Though Nepali teams are yet to be confirmed, we are planning to invite Tribhuvan Army Club, Nepal APF Club and some regional teams,” Sharma said. “We decided to host the tournament because cricket has been growing in popularity in the country and Nepal has been achieving one success after another at the international level.”The organizers believe the tournamentwill help promote tourism in Kapilvastuas the birthplace of Lord Buddha and also contribute to the development of cricket in Taulihawa, Sharma added.Source:#myrepublica
