Gave an impromptu nutrition talk tonight to all of my athletes. The top 5 takeaway points: 1) Recovery is huge and nutrition along with sleep are at the top of the list of recovery modalities. 2) Eat a minimum of 1g protein per lb. bodyweight. This number is often thrown out as the maximum number of grams your body can use...total nonsense! 3) Some supplements are effective and can help improve recovery and performance, but dont spend money on supplements if your diet is predominantly cookies and fastfood. Set a solid nutrition foundation before worrying about supplements. 4) Prepare lean protein sources and chop veggies on Sunday and store them away for the week. This way youll have healthy options ready and wont need to stop for fastfood when on the go. 5) Snacks: Beef Jerky, Peanut Butter, Mixed Nuts, Shakes, Fruits and Veggies, etc.
