Geek/nerd/ otaku thought of the day. New tv shows coming out recently like Gotham, Doctor Who, The New Star Trek movies, The Arrow, and The Flash. They are creating a new generation of nerds. People who have never thought to pick up a comic book, are now in love with the characters beloved by the nerd underground for decades. Its a good thing. The more people wanting nerd things means more nerd things are made/produced. Its a bad thing too. These new nerds (me simi-included) are not taking the time to learn the history. They can cosplay with the best but they are not up to date on the HISTORY of these amazing characters. They are not true nerds. This new class of nerd is the equivalent of a black person who knows nothing of their cultures history, grandparents fight and struggle. Not truly in touch with their roots. The new Whovian. (Only knows the 9th thru 13th Doctor) The alternative reality Trekkie. (Only knows the two new movies) The New Arrow/Flash/Batman fan. (Only knows the new movies/tv shows) History people. Its all about HISTORY. Im sorry, but Im a newbie and I lose respect for newbies that give us newbies a bad name. I broke up with a girl who told me she watched the new Star Trek movies more than 10 times but when asked about the Original Series on which it was based, never watched them or wanted to. The same with the Original Doctors because, I quote they are too old and boring. ..... I truly just had to walk away. Before I...mitted murder. LEARN YOUR HISTORY NEWBIES! Love the current Doctor Who? Watch the original doctors. They are all on Hulu. Love the alternative reality Star Trek movies? Go watch the original series, next generation, DS9, Voyager, enterprise, and all of the movies. Netflix had most of it. Pick up a comic book. Google, you can find scanlations of anything with Google. Please! For the love of all things geeky, nerdy, and righteous. LEARN YOUR DAMNED HISTORY!
