Me: yeah, you must be excited. Lukhona: you bet I am. Uzandikhapha nhe xa siyolanda icake? Me: sure. We finished getting ready and went to the main house. People were getting ready, I went to look for Silu, she was standing with some kids, outside. I went over to them.. Me: molweni, Silu can I have a word with you? Silu: sure.. I pulled her to the side.. Silu: whats up? Me: ulele njani? Silu: ndilele kakuhle, I slept with my cousins. Me: oh, awulambanga? Silu: oh hay Nkosi yam bhuti, yhini bawo. Me: iya kwabanye ke, I love you. Silu: love you too.. She walked away.. Lukhona and I went to town for the cake and some other stuff.. Then we went back home and the event had just begun. Just as we expected, the place was packed. We had fun, Makazi was over the moon. Thami and Sino were there too, they bought Makazi a gift too, a clothing store gift voucher. The day went well, everything went according to plan. People from Makazis church were there, clebrating with her. Everyone was proud of Lukhona, for growing up to be a responsibile man who took good care of his mother, granny and siblings. He really was responsible. Before the presents, makazi got up, to breathe a few words. She got up and fixed her well designed dress that hugged her body perfectly, showing off how well structured she was.. She was all smiles, with tears in her eyes.. She greeted and we greeted back.. Makazi: kuqala mandibulele kumntu wonke othe wazinika uxanduva lokuza apha namhlanje. Ndiyathemba wonke ke umntu apha uyandazi. She giggled.. Makazi: Ndiyambulela kakhulu uThixo ngale mini inje. Kuhle ukuva abantu bethetha ngawe usaphila, ubamamele. Ezinye izinto ezithethiweyo apha ngam, bendingazazi ukuba zinjalo. People laughed.. Makazi: Ndinoonyana bam ababini endifuna ukubabulela, ngento yonke. ULukhona, unyana wam omdala, kunye no Siphesihle, unyana kadade wethu. Ndicela uLukhona aphakame. He stood up.. Makazi: uLukhona lo, nguye isizathu zokuba kube nje namhlanje. Ibingumbono wakhe, ewe ke wathetha nabantu ukuze ancediswe apha naphaya, kodwa oyena mntu wenze yonke into, nguye. ULukhona ke liwele, udade wabo usandokusishiya, Im sure abanye bayamazi, uZikhona. Makazis smile slightly faded away.. Makazi: uLukhona libhongo neqhayiya lam, ndiqhayisa ngaye ezizweni, unyana wam olipolisa. People laughed, Lukhona sat down.. Makazi: ndiyambulela kakhulu uThixo ngaye, uyinto yonke kum, ku mama, nasebantwaneni bakowabo. People cheered for him.. Makazi: ndibulele ke bethuna no nyana wam wesibini, uSiphesihle. Ndinjena nje nguye. USihle wandibonisa indlela engcono yokuphila, hayi ndicela akhe aphakame naye. Yho, I stood up for a second and then quickly sat down again.. Makazi: uSihle wandazisa kwiNdoda engaphezulu kwamanye amadoda. Niyandazi mos ndandiyintombi ka Bro Sticks, ndimdala ndinje, kodwa ndandinyamezele ukuba yi girlfriend. People laughed.. Makazi: kodwa ke, anditsho ukuba nina bantu basekulo mpilo yekani, mna kodwa owam uBawo wandikhupha apho. Ndandisela mna, kwakuvula mna eshebeen kuphinde kuvale mna.Ndiyambulela uThixo owasindisa ubomi bam, wabuyisa isidima sam. She couldnt continue, she tried, but she couldnt. She then went to sit down, as emotional as she was. After the whole event, people left.. Thami and Sino walked up to Lukhona and I, while we were still eating.. Thami: boys.. We greeted back.. Thami: siyaxolisa ngofika late, traffic. Me: akho ngxaki. Sino: ibintle lento wethu, usebenzile Lukhona. Lukhona: enkosi sisi. Thami: asizohlala ke, its getting late. Me: uSilu akafuni uhamba? Sino: hay yhuu, uthi uhamba nawe. Me: nathi fanele sihambe ke namhlanje, izandichana into yohamba ngomso mna. Sino: lungisani ke, sihambeni, its getting late. Me: okay, let me look for Silu. I went to look for her and found her, she was still with the other kids.. Me: Silu, were leaving. Thatha ibag yakho. Silu: what? Asihambi ngomso na? Me: no, sihamba namhlanje. Silu: haybo bhuti, kusezotyiwa isibindi apha. Me: ndizakuthengela maan isibindi, thatha ibag yakho and wait for me pha koo bhutThami. I went to the backroom to take my stuff and we looked for Makazi, to say goodbye to her and everybody else. I had to explain why we were leaving on a Saturday, and it was hard for them to understand, but we had to leave. Silu and I got into my car, while Thami and his family got into his car, and we all drove off.. Silu: bekumnandi maan apha, I am going to miss my cousins. Me: zezona ndawo fanele uza kuzo ezi nge holidays, to get to know this side of the family. Silu: uba uthetha ngale ye holiday yam ne family ka Ndalo ke, wena ungakhetha ukuza ezilalini kunokuya ehotel? Me: Id choose my own family. Silu: oh. Me: but anyway, well see what your parents have to say ngalo nto. Silu: and I bet you wish theyd say no. Me: mxm. Silu: bhuti, uyamazi uMamela? Me: Mamela waphi? Silu: lo walapha ngakulo bhutLukhona. Me: no, utheni? Silu: ebecele inumber yakho. Me: wamnika? Silu: ewe. Uthe nizi friends. Me: ngu Mamela waphi na lowo? Silu: andimazi nam, qha uthe nizi friends, uhlala apha kule lali. Me: ungaphindi unikise nge number yam, uvile? She nodded.. Me: uyandiva? Silu: ewe bhuti, Im sorry. Me: nguMamela waphi na lo? Unjani ebusweni? Silu: udark, but not kakhulu. Me: andimazi mna lo mntu lowo. Ndizamva phofu xa efounile. Silu: okay. We got to town, my phone rang, it was Thami.. Me: bro? Thami: siqala egarage ke, follow me. Me: sure. There was a taxi infront of me, and Thami was infront of that taxi. The taxi pulled over to the side, while I was still on the phone. I was was driving slower because I was on the phone and I was in town. When I was about to hang up, out of nowhere, a child, a boy ran up to the car, Im saying out of nowhere because I only noticed him when he was running, trying to cross the street. Silu screamed bhuti jonga nanku umntana, uphuncule kumama wakhe. At the back of my mind, I wanted to ask ngumzali otheni lo ungambambiyo umntana endleleni?, but I wasnt thinking straight, I panicked too, pressed the hooter and tried swerving to the side, the only thing in my mind was to avoid knocking the child over, I couldnt deal with being the reason why a child will be stuck in a wheelchair, little did I know that on the oncoming lane, there was another vehicle. I dont remember what exactly happened then, there was a child on my left and a car on my right and my car was swerving to the other vehicle which I only saw a few minutes before the loud bang of my car and that car crashing... I blacked out, there and then..
