Geelani ‘goes into hiding’ ByReader Correspondent Published: Sun, 01 December 2013 11:04 PM SRINAGAR: Ahead of his scheduled Kulgam rally on Sunday, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani has apparently given police the slip by going into hiding on Saturday night. Police sources told Kashmir Reader that Geelani was not present at his Hyderpora residence. “Geelani has left his residence and we are searching for him,” he said. Police had on Friday foiled Geelani’s Tral rally by putting him under house arrest. However on late Friday night, the police posse deployed outside his residence left the venue and also the police vehicle blocking the main entrance to his residence was removed, a Hurriyat Conference (G) spokesman said in a statement. “Police on late Friday night lifted the restrictions outside Geelani Sahib’s Hyderpora residence and as per announced programme, he will now address public rally in Kulgam on Sunday,” he said. He said that the octogenarian pro-freedom leader will also address a rally in Tral area of Pulwama district on Wednesday, December 4. “People in thousands are expected to take part in these rallies to demonstrate their commitment with the freedom struggle,” the spokesman said. On December 6, Geelani will address a rally in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district. “On December 8, as per programme, Geelani sahib will address a historic rally at Municipal Park in Srinagar,” he added
