Gen. 2:7, 24: Purpose Desire Destiny Emotions Responsibility Man-to-Man is about men talking to men for the glory of God and the transformation of the nation. If you missed the ministry this morning, here is some of what we did: • What are some of the responsibilities for the father in the home? Is the father responsible under God for evangelizing his children? • Fathering is a responsibility to shape a life through modeling and mentoring. God requires fathers to evangelize their children. A tremendous arrangement has been set up in the earth realm. God has tied the ministry of his word for generations to the role of the father in the family (see Deut. 6:1-9). • God gave the responsibility for spiritual socialization of the children to the father, not the church first, the father! • It’s been a challenge for me as a father to know that your children say “yes daddy” until about age 10, then have all your good counsel contradicted because of something they read for a CXC assignment. Stay the course brothers. Don’t resort to shouting at or hitting your child. • I welcome Brother Loris (Heywood), a man whom I celebrate before Christ for how he has been able to guide his family under God. • Men bear, rear and care. When Abraham went to the wicket he was batting for the generations to come. We are parenting for the long haul. We must go back to the divine pattern which can be lived out now on the earth. John said I have no greater joy than that my children walk in truth. • Authority must be undergirded by affection or alienation will occur. A father must establish divine authority in the home. If we do well fathers, it makes it easy for our generations to have the good life. There must be no disparity between our “deed” and our “creed”. • You may be asking – “How do I get my son to obey the counsel of God?” A father needs an experience with God. In I Tim. 4:16 we see a pattern to follow: o Meditation (on the scriptures); o Dedication (obedience to God); o Demonstration (living out our commitment to God). • The most important thing we could do for our children is to give them a Godly heritage. Tomorrow, find a church where the Lord’s name is established. In Georgetown you could go to the Camp Street Brethren Church and ask for Brother Loris Heywood. If you are across the river, visit the Vreed-en-Hoop Wesleyan Church 8.00 a.m. 11.00 a.m. 6.30 p.m. • Jesus said to the man who used to be in the tomb – go home to your family. Go home to your family, take care of your children and watch God work!
