Genealogy Tidbit: When my Grandfather Arthur George Nelson Deline (born 1884) was 14 years old, he lost his 11 year old younger brother Thomas "Tommy" Deline (born 1887) to accidental drowning. Art and Tommy were born # 2 and # 3 in the family and would have been close siblings. On 16 July 1898, Tommy was swimming in the Black River between Mill and Court Street bridges where he was learning to swim. Several other boys were with him, and realizing a problem, tried several times to save him, nearly grabbing a hold of him by his hair before he sank out of sight. A sad day in the Deline family. Years later, Grandfather Arthur Deline almost drowned himself, a genealogy tidbit for another day.
