It is the 800th birthday of the Magna Carta and for charities and campaign groups, the anniversary of what it means to be a free society brings with it a call to action. Demand for charity continues to rise as resources fall. Local cuts continue to bite and if recent briefings are to be believed, they will probably get worse. Meanwhile, the third sector’s duty, not only to curb pain and suffering, but to speak the truth about that pain and suffering, is under attack.
